PoppyLune.co.uk is Neil Cruickshank.
I gained a first class honours degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from Sheffield University in 1990. After 4 years working in this field as a design engineer in Middlesbrough, site engineer to the Docklands Light Railway station roof at Canary Wharf and then helping to produce several technical publications, I left the engineering field to follow my passion of paragliding.
I had by this time started competing and at my peak competed as a member of the British Paragliding Team. I also joined Northern Paragliding as a one-third partner, teaching paragliding and establishing what is now the largest wholesale and retail outlet in this market. 15 years in this post threw just about every challenge my way, from forced diversification during the 2001 foot and mouth crisis to adapting to the changes brought about by the emergence of the internet.
The skills acquired during this time and the multi-tasking required to run one's own small business have enabled me to produce high quality web and graphic design solutions to the varied marketing initiatives we tried. I can relate to anyone running their own business and can appreciate that cost is always an important factor.
My aim is to provide individuals and businesses with an affordable, high quality service with an emphasis on producing results. I will work with you to ensure that your money is spent on effective solutions.
I live with my family in the Eden Valley, Cumbria and combine my home based design business with my varied interests of which sailing, kayaking, fishing, beekeeping, skiing, woodworking and paragliding are just a few!
So why PoppyLune? Well, on 17 September 2008 our daughter Poppy was born. After a traumatic birth at 2am I finally stumbled out into a Carlisle dawn to be greeted by the site of a beautiful yellow full moon over the waking city. Lune is french for moon and 9 months earlier we had been in France, so this also became the middle name of our little girl, and now of my latest venture.
I look forward to working with you.
